How should I communicate with the care team between appointments?

You can email the clinic your questions using the contact details on our website. Please allow 48 hours response time to emails. If you require urgent assistance please inform your Patient Advocate.

Always call 000 in the event of a medical emergency.

How do I receive a referral to other services or practitioners?

Your current doctor may refer you to another practitioner or specialist in order to best support and manage your condition. Referrals can be discussed during your consultation with the GPs at the clinic.

What if I am seriously unwell?

In the event of a medical emergency, please call 000 or attend your nearest hospital.

How do I receive a bill or make a payment?

The billing policy is simple and clear. The GPs endeavour to be transparent and affordable whilst providing a high quality service. Please refer to the fees page on our website for more details. The doctors here accept payment by credit and debit card through an EFTPOS terminal for Visa and Mastercard cards. They do not take cash payments and no cash is held on premises.

Are your services covered by private health fund?

Some of the services available at Next Practice may be covered by your private health fund. In order to have the most accurate information on whether you will receive a rebate or not please contact your private health fund provider to find out your level of cover.

How will I receive my appointment confirmation and reminders?

How can I request a repeat or refill prescription?

For most repeat prescriptions you will need to make an appointment to see your regular doctor to discuss your needs. By making an appointment for prescriptions, your doctor is better able to care for you. The GPs at this location are also able to offer Telehealth consultations. These are useful and popular for follow up appointments.You can also request a script refill for regular medication through your Next Practice Patient App (available on Apple and Android store).

How will I receive test results?

At Next Practice Prahran test results will be delivered to you by your regular doctor.
It is in you best interest to discuss results and further health plans with you doctor. This will ensure that you have all necessary information for your health and wellbeing.

If results are not normal, you will need to make another appt. Please phone the practice after 1 week of having your tests.

Can I get to the medical centre on public transport?

Train

We’re opposite the Prahran train station on the corner of Greville and Porter street.

Bus

We’re 700 metres from Route 246 bus stop - corner of Greville Street and Punt Road.

Tram

We’re 350 metres (4min walk) from tram stop 29 tram route 72 - Porter street and Commercial Road.

300 metres (4min walk) from tram stop 30 tram route 6 - High Street and Porter Street.

How can I get a repeat prescription?

For most repeat prescriptions you will need to make an appointment to see your regular doctor to discuss your needs. By making an appointment for prescriptions, your doctor is better able to care for you. Answering any questions you may have and informing you of any risks, or concerns associated with your particular medication. What is the best way to contact the clinic?

If this is an emergency please call 000, for emergency services, or attend your nearest hospital for assistance.

You can book appointments online, or by telephone during the clinic's open hours which are listed on our website.

If calling the clinic after-hours, you will receive a recorded message, detailing our regular business hours. Should you wish to speak with one of the Patient Advocates please call them back on 03 9067 7400 within these hours.

If you require non-emergent care outside of our opening hours, Next Practice Prahran has an afterhours agreement with DoctorDoctor.

This service provides bulk-billed, medical consultations in the home weekdays from 6:00pm, Saturdays from 12 noon, as well as Sundays and Public Holidays. This service is available at most locations and after your consultation they will communicate with us to keep us up to date on your needs.

Do you accept new patients?

The doctors at this location accept new patients and are delighted you have chosen to receive your care at Next Practice. When booking a new patient consultation, please ensure that you arrive early to fill in the new patient form and get yourself acquainted with the clinic.

To give you the best care possible, the practitioners take time to understand your medical history, key health information and measurements such as height, weight and blood pressure. On your arrival, you will be greeted by a Patient Advocates who will ask you to complete a new patient form using an iPad. Don't worry the technology is easy and if you need help with it your Patient Advocate will be pleased to assist.

Where can I park if I'm driving?

There is 1-to-2-hour free parking along Greville Street and adjacent nearby streets.

A 300 metre, quick walk-through Grattan Gardens takes you to the newly opened "Prahran Square" car park. This 500-bay underground car park is best accessed via Izett Street. Currently only $1 for 2 hours parking.

A 350-metre walk takes you to Woolworths multi-level parking, on the corner of Iszett and Wattle Street. Parking is free for 90 minutes if you spend $15 at Woolworths.

It is a 400 metre walk to 8-14 King Street where paid parking is also available.

What to expect in a SkinPen microneedling session?

SkinPen Precision is a microneedling device that utilises Collagen Induction Therapy to treat acne scars and fine lines & wrinkles on the face and neck. How can I reschedule or cancel an appointment?

If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please notify the centre at least one business day prior to the appointment.

If you fail to attend or give less than 2 hours notice that you cannot make your appointment a minimum fee of $30 applies.

What is MyMedicare?

MyMedicare is a new voluntary patient registration model. It aims to strengthen and formalise the relationship between patients, the medical services clinic, general practitioner (GP) and primary care teams. Evidence shows that seeing the same GP and healthcare team regularly leads to better health outcomes for patients.

You can formally register with the medical services clinic or register with your preferred GP from 1 October 2023.

How can I make an appointment?

You do not need a referral letter to attend a Next Practice medical centre. All appointments can be easily booked online on our website. If you need help booking an appointment please contact a friendly Patient Advocate by phone.

Walk-In Appointments

The doctors here welcome walk-in patients; however, please be advised that wait times may occur. As they primarily operate by appointments, there could be occasions where accommodating walk-ins may not be possible. The doctors appreciate your understanding and encourage you to schedule appointments for more timely and efficient service.
