About Me
Meredith O'Loughlan is a registered Chinese Medicine practitioner, researcher and educator with more than 20 years of clinical experience supporting people living with complex and chronic health conditions. She combines the principles of traditional Chinese Medicine with contemporary Functional Medicine to provide personalised, integrative care that works alongside general practitioners, medical specialists and allied health professionals.
Drawing on both Eastern and Western medical sciences, Meredith integrates traditional Chinese Medicine with contemporary understanding of nutrition, lifestyle medicine, herbal medicines and nutritional supplementation. Her approach is centred on understanding each person's unique health story, recognising the complex relationship between nutrition, lifestyle, stress, environment and overall health to develop personalised treatment strategies.
Meredith has a particular interest in supporting people living with autoimmune conditions, immune dysregulation, digestive disorders, neurological conditions and other complex chronic health concerns. She also supports patients seeking to optimise their energy, sleep, mood, metabolic health and fertility, including those undertaking assisted reproductive treatments such as IVF.
She believes the best health outcomes are achieved through collaborative healthcare, where Chinese Medicine and Functional Medicine complement conventional medical care. Meredith works closely with patients and their existing healthcare team to ensure her recommendations integrate seamlessly with their broader medical management.
How Meredith Can Support You
Meredith supports patients across a broad range of health concerns, with particular interests in:
• Gut health and digestive dysfunction
• Immune health and immune dysregulation
• Autoimmune conditions and chronic health concerns
• Energy, fatigue and resilience
• Sleep support
• Mood and emotional wellbeing
• Women's health and fertility, including natural and assisted IVF support
• Personalised nutrition and lifestyle optimisation
Meredith's clinical approach is informed by extensive training in Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, Functional and Nutritional Medicine, together with a Master of Applied Science (Research) in Laboratory Pharmacology from RMIT University. Her postgraduate research investigated the pharmacology of the Chinese herb Salvia miltiorrhiza (Dan Shen), contributing to research exploring the pharmacology of Chinese herbal medicine.
Prior to establishing her private practice, Meredith worked in Allied Health across several major Victorian hospitals, including The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Monash Medical Centre and The Northern Hospital. She was also part of Victoria's first public hospital emergency department acupuncture program, an experience that continues to shape her collaborative approach to patient care within multidisciplinary healthcare settings.
Meredith is the founder of Neurobiome, an integrative healthcare model that brings together Chinese Medicine principles with emerging research into the gut, brain and immune system to better understand complex chronic health conditions. Her clinical philosophy is grounded in curiosity, compassion and evidence informed practice, helping patients feel heard, understood and empowered to take an active role in their health.
Outside of clinical practice, Meredith enjoys spending time with family and friends, practicing Tai Chi, travelling and making time each day for meditation. She also enjoys returning to her violin whenever she gets the chance.
